“Looking at the incarcerated, these are not political criminals. These people are going around stealing Coca-Cola. People are getting shot in the back of the head over a piece of pound cake! Then we all run out and are outraged: “the cops shouldn’t have shot him.” What the hell was he doing with the pound cake in his hand?”

Dr. Bill Cosby has been quite a lightning rod of late. Yet despite his popular mainstream persona, Cosby has never been one to sugarcoat his opinions or shy away from the public discourse on culture. His many television and movie products are evidence of his commitment to elevating the representations of Blacks in popular media for decades.

Bold. Stylish. Unique. Ahead of its time.

These words describe the woman who has earned the privilege to bask in the blinding glory of pink and green, or the fiery passion of crimson and creme, or the refreshing confidence of blue and white. Roughly 80% or more of all currently employed individuals are waiting or searching for a new job. The main complaints of employees include being under-employed, under-challenged, or under-developed in their current position. The hip-hop culture and movement that began in the late 70’s and early 80’s has become the catchall scapegoat for many of the ills in the Black community. As it grew from the inner city landscape of urban New York into the ubiquitous cultural space it now occupies in the American (and global) psyche, it began to draw the ire of an audience far removed from its inner workings. Once it began to weave its way into the very fabric of Americana, it became a force to be feared and castigated. This fear was solidified by the rise of gangsta rap in the late 80’s and early 90’s. The years that followed would see a once local phenomenon of New York youth culture become a topic debated in the hallowed halls of the Congress of the United States. Government was paying attention. They heard, but were not listening, and for all the wrong reasons.

I will showcase recipes for two dishes that are delicious and easy to make. First is the shrimp dish, which is very simple to make but the taste is very unique because of the many different flavors created from the ingredients.

And with salmon, well you can't go wrong with fancy crabmeat for a stuffing. Being very light and fresh, it provides a nice summer theme.
